About

Hello, I’m Agnes

As a lifelong musician, my goal is to continue to grow and develop my own musicianship, as well as share the joy of musical self expression with others, through teaching and performing. As a child and young adult I had classical training in voice, flute and piano. Though piano was traditionally my main instrument, and I started teaching piano lessons 15 years ago, along the way I rediscovered my love for singing.

Currently, I’m working on a second Master of Arts, this time in Voice Pedagogy. I’m fascinated by the new research which is reshaping how we learn and teach singing! It is exciting to infuse my own practice and my teaching pedagogy with the evolving neuroscience in mind. Also, I have started performing locally again, and enjoy offering solo vocal recitals,  interacting with the audience, finding new genres to sing, and exploring new ranges in my Soprano voice.

When I’m not teaching, I love to hike, camp, photograph and draw/paint flowers, collage, read, and drink herbal tea!

Songbird Studio

Songbird Studio offers a well-rounded curriculum for both voice and piano, which includes different genres of music, as well as ear training, sight-singing/reading, and music theory. I have been teaching music for 15 years, and I teach in person in Davis California, as well as online.

I have the knowledge and expertise to work with the unique qualities of every student, guiding each person to success. My approach to teaching is gentle, creative and rigorous. My educational background combined with a playful approach makes for exciting, satisfying, and playful music lessons.

In vocal lessons, students have the opportunity to sing classical, folk, musical theater, sacred, spirituals, and /or opera. I specialize in Italian, German, and French languages. I am certified in Applied Neuroscience and Voice, and I use these science based, creative, and playful methods to help students to learn to sing faster, and with more ease – like a songbird!

At Songbird Studio, all students are welcome, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, age, size, national origin and cultural heritage, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, mental health, physical ability, neurodiversity, or native language. All students are valued, appreciated, and respected.
